If you have yet to get a laptop, I certainly wouldnt if you plan to dock it. All I need is hdmi in, ethernet, headphone, and a reasonable amount of USB ports (3-5) but I have yet to find anything that matches my exact spec under $300, so good luck with that Ports: I have yet to find a dock that supports all the ports the average gaming/power user would want (within a reasonable price). There's just no good way around this right now. That wouldn't even sufficiently power a laptop with a GTX 1050, by a long shot, and it costs $330. To put it into perspective Razer's most recent dock only does 90 watts on charging on the laptop. The most high end docks out these days ($250+) can barely support the power draw from surface laptops and macs you will not be able to charge the laptop and play off a dock (at least without spending $400+ on some industry solution). Charging: Simply put, you will need to use the charger that came with your gaming laptop while docked. The only way around this is to plug the display cable directly into the laptop, negating one of the main reasons to buy a dock in the first place. Monitor support: While most docks can run high resolution, high refresh rate monitors no problem (this is common sense, the mod does not know what they are talking about, I am typing on a 1080p 240hz docked monitor right now) they will be using some sort of onboard driver to do so, meaning you will not have access to most driver display options like GSYNC, Freesync, Nvidia Control Panel, and I have even heard some people being unable to use Shadowplay and Adrenaline. I say definitely NO, as there are major drawbacks and cons, such as: Pretty late on the draw here, but I've been looking a lot into this myself.
